A solo exhibition of the work of Hiroto Nakanishi hosted by Chiso.

Nakanishi’s works are made from old pieces of wood. The artist discovers the beauty hidden in their shape, and carves out the unnecessary parts. The voids created by missing parts (eaten away by insects or rotten away), and the space between wooden pieces become also parts of the shape of his works. 

Nakanishi’s interpretation of the material, and the nature of his works, which hint at something beyond what is laid in front of our eyes, awake in us a sense of beauty. 

The visible and the invisible. Let us contemplate how both combine and interact to create a work of art.
