The exhibition “Secrets of the Kimono: The Advent of Yuzen Dyeing” delves into the thought processes behind the art of kimono-making, where tradition flows seamlessly between the three-dimensional and the two-dimensional. Chiso is proud to provide full curatorial support with its extensive collection, shaped by Kyoto's deeply rooted history of craftsmanship.
This showcase illuminates the cultural sensibilities that thrive in modern Kyoto.
We hope that the new perspectives discovered in this exhibition will serve as a foundation to build beauty for the future, filled with great promise.

京都の文化を支え、共に未来へ 花街 地域貢献プロジェクト
Chiso will donate 250 pieces of Iro-muji kimonos in 47 different colors, carefully dyed one by one by craftspeople, to the Kyoto Traditional Musical Art Foundation “Ookini Zaidan”, which has dedicated to preserving and passing down the traditional performing arts of Kyoto’s Kagai (geiko and maiko districts).
For 470 years, Chiso has thrived alongside Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage. With this donation, we hope to contribute to the continuation of Kyoto’s legacy of beauty and tradition for future generations.
職人が一枚一枚染めた47色、250点の色無地を、京都・花街が誇る伝統伎芸を保存・継承する「おおきに財団」へ寄贈いたします。
470年の長きにわたり文化と共に歩むわたしたちを支える創業の地・京都の街の営みを、美の文化を未来につなぐ一助となることを願って。

About 470 years ago, Chiso’s history began as a supplier of religious ceremonial garments.
Throughout our long history, our business has changed dramatically in step with the times, while still focusing on dyed and woven products. Chiso is what it is today just because it has taken in new ideas without being bound by tradition.
The Chiso flagship store envisages to create the experience of wearing something beautiful for the special occasions as well as everyday life.
We wish all the customer would have special experience at our store, especially by discovering new perspective of beauty though history, craftsmanship, and art.
We look forward to welcoming you at Sanjo Karasuma in Kyoto, where we have been creating beauty since 1555.
